Dear Church Family,

Before sharing our weekly announcements, I need to begin with an important and urgent reminder regarding recent scam activity affecting churches across the region including ours. Many church members have received text messages that appear to come from me, asking for gift cards or other urgent assistance. Please know that I will never request gift cards, money, or personal information by text message or email. If you receive any such message claiming to be from your pastor, it is a scam.

About a month ago, our church office also received an email from someone pretending to be a recent new member and requesting a copy of our church directory. When Kelly checked with me, I confirmed that I did not recognize the name and that we would never send out our church directory through email for any reason. This indicates that someone has been attempting to gather information about our congregation through phishing tactics.

Please be vigilant:

  • Do not respond to suspicious texts or emails.

  • Do not click on unfamiliar links.

  • Never send gift cards, financial information, or personal data in response to unsolicited messages.

  • Delete suspicious messages immediately.

If you are ever unsure whether a message is truly from me or the church, please call the church office directly to verify.

Now, here are this week’s announcements and upcoming opportunities for worship and fellowship.

Daylight Saving Time Begins

Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday, March 8. Please remember to set your clocks forward one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night. We look forward to seeing you in worship — right on time!

Rising Hope Hyperthermia Ministry

The Rising Hope Hyperthermia program began on March 3, offering warm meals to our unhoused neighbors during these cold nights. David and I had the privilege of joining Gwen, Tom, and Bill to serve dinner at Rising Hope. It was a truly meaningful experience and a very practical expression of Christ’s love in action for those experiencing homelessness in our community.

Wesley Church will continue serving dinner on March 10, 17, and 24. We are deeply grateful to our church members for your generous support of this important ministry. Your prayers, donations, and willingness to serve truly make a difference. A special thank you to Gwen for faithfully organizing and coordinating this outreach effort.

Red Cross Blood Drive - March 12, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Wesley Church will host a Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, March 12, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. This is a meaningful opportunity to share the gift of life with those in need in our community.

Please mark your calendar and go to the Red Cross web site and make a reservation https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-time?dt=WB:PL:DR:PM&zipSponsor=22309&driveType=all. If you cannot donate please invite your family members and your friends to donate. You can also open an attached flyer for a QR code for the Blood Donor App.

I will also need a volunteer to assist with setting up and greeting donors. Volunteers please confirm with Paul your availability. We need to have the doors open at 10:00 for setup. Thank you for your prayerful consideration and support.

Monthly Prayer Meeting – Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 PM

In these uncertain and challenging times in our world, we invite you to join us for our Monthly Prayer Meeting on Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 PM.

We will pray especially for our Honduras Mission Team and pair prayer partners with each team member for ongoing spiritual support. We will also lift up the needs of our church, community, and world. Please come and stand together in prayer, trusting in God’s powerful work among us.
