Trusting God, Who Is Our Strength

Scripture: Psalm 121:1–2

“I lift up my eyes to the hills—from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”

A Word from Pastor Michelle

Invitation Sunday is now just two weeks away, on September 13! There is still much to prepare, and I encourage all of us to continue supporting and helping one another as we get ready to warmly welcome our guests and celebrate this special day together.

I must admit that I had some concerns about our preparation. Because of various personal health conditions and work commitments, some of the leaders we have been depending on may not be able to join us for the event. I wondered how we would be able to take care of everything that needed to be done.

But last Sunday, other leaders stepped forward and gave me such wonderful encouragement. They said to me, “Pastor, all are taken care of! We will proceed, trusting God who is our strength.”

What joyful words! Even now, I hear them ringing in my ears: “All are taken care of!” What a beautiful testimony of faith and trust in God. Praise God! Glory to our Lord! I am so grateful for the people of Wesley Church who are willing to step forward, work together, and trust God as we serve Him.

And then, on Saturday, we experienced another unexpected gift. As you may know, the new sod in our front yard did not survive the extreme heat and lack of water while we were away last July. We had been planning to replace it this fall. But while we were out, our neighbor across the street surprised us by installing beautiful new sod in our front yard!

What made this even more meaningful was that our neighbors told us simply to receive it as their contribution to our church and to enjoy the gift. David and I were deeply touched by their generosity and kindness.

These two experiences have reminded me once again that God takes care of us—sometimes through the faithful hands of our church family and sometimes through the unexpected kindness of our neighbors. We do not walk alone, and we do not carry God's work by ourselves.

As we continue preparing for Invitation Sunday, may we trust God, support one another, and joyfully respond whenever there is an opportunity to serve. May we remember those beautiful words: “All are taken care of!”

Praise God! Glory to our Lord!
