A New Season of Preparation

A Word from Pastor Michelle
This week, many families are beginning a new school year. Students are returning to classrooms, teachers are preparing for another year of learning, and families are settling back into new routines and schedules.
A new school year is a time of preparation, expectation, and fresh beginnings. In much the same way, Wesley United Methodist Church is entering a season of preparation for a new ministry year.
Our Charge Conference is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, and before we gather for Charge Conference, our Church Council will meet on Sunday, September 27, to review and prepare the necessary reports and plans. This means that the next several weeks are an important time for each of our ministry areas to look ahead, reflect on the past year, and prayerfully prepare for the year ahead.
I especially encourage our Finance Committee, Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC), Board of Trustees, and Nominations Committee to begin planning their meetings and preparing for the coming year. The Finance Committee will need to prepare the 2027 budget, while the SPRC and Trustees will need to complete their respective Charge Conference reports. The Nominations Committee also has an important task: prayerfully identifying and preparing new leaders to serve on our various committees and boards in the coming year.
This is more than simply completing paperwork or filling positions. These reports, budgets, and leadership plans give us an opportunity to ask important questions: Where have we seen God at work among us? What have we learned? What needs our attention? And where is God calling Wesley Church in the coming year?
Let us prepare not only our reports, budgets, and leadership teams, but also our hearts. May we seek God’s wisdom, work together faithfully, and look forward with hope to what God will do through Wesley United Methodist Church in the year ahead.
May God guide us as we prepare for a new season of ministry together.

Charlie for continued healing and for his procedure to be scheduled quickly.
Mike for continued healing from surgery.
Audry for her renewed strength and recovery.
Charles for his strength and healing from his dislocated shoulder.
Odell as she continues to heal for Chemotherapy.
That God will place two or three people on each of our hearts whom we can personally invite to the Family & Friends Invitation Sunday on September 13.
